Water Wells, Jharkhand and Orissa, India

Gill Group Foundation teamed up with Divine Onkar Mission to help provide clean drinking water in two of the poorest states in India Jharkhand and Orissa.

The donation of £5001 will help to contribute towards Divine Onkar Mission’s 4 stage project to help build clean water wells in the hardest hit Indian states. The water wells will be built in remote villages who have no access to everyday comforts we have become accustomed to such as indoor plumbing and tap water.

The wells will help promote involvement from the local community to give the villages a sense of empowerment and involvement in the project.

The 4 stages of the project are:

Stage 1 – A meeting is held with the Head of a village to discuss the best location for the well. This would have to be on neutral ground where all villagers would have easy and fair access.

Stage 2 – Test are done to ensure there is a sound water source underground. Unemployed villagers are recruited, to work on the project.

Stage 3 – The work is managed and overseen by a site Manager to ensure that all problems or obstacles are quickly overcome.

Stage 4 – A opening of the well ceremony handing over of the well ceremony is organised ensuring ownership by all the villagers.

We have received some updates from Divine Onkar Mission and are very happy to share these with you.

Everyone from the GGF wishes them the very best with this project.
